It has been 5 weeks since my son was born in Ruwais hospital. I have made several inquiries about nurseries considering that my wife was still under contract with a Ruwais Mall company and she would need to continue working. The following article will present my results of nurseries searches.

Al Dana is the most advertised nursery in Ruwais. You can find it at A 281. If you are traveling from Abu Dhabi Market to Emirates General Market you can see the banner on your right side, after you have passed the first roundabout. To reach the parking lot, where this first picture was taken, you just have to reach the next intersection and make 3 rights.

Online shopping solutions for Ruwais

If you are living in Ruwais and you love online shopping, you will have a hard time getting your packages delivered to your door step. For example souq.com, Carrefouruae.com or SharafDG.com will not ship to Ruwais, because it is very far from Abu Dhabi (roughly 200 km+). But that is not going to stop us.

In order to take advantage of the online deals you have 3 choices:

1. Signup for Shop and Ship service from Aramex. Through this service you can get packages delivered to Ruwais from all over the world at an additional cost. Charges depend from where you get your package delivered from (USA, Europe, China, India, UAE) and how much the package weighs. I strongly do not recommend this when buying heavy home electronics (TV, fridges, washing machines)

2. Drive to Abu Dhabi to personally collect your packages from the couriers’ office. Here are a couple of courier offices where you can collect your online shopping packages.

This is the Aramex new office (on the old airport road / in the al jazira stadium area)

New UAE visa cost starting from 1st August 2014

You may have heard that starting from 1st of August 2014 there are new visa costs. The following article will provide what those rates are and, also, where you need to go exactly for UAE visa affairs.

Since the visa costs is a more detailed discussion, i will first present our closest UAE visa center and then our capital city one. The closest visa center for Ruwais residents is the Tamm center in Ghayathi (also spelled Ghayati or Gayathi)

Road Closure Notification

Greetings Ruwais neighbours.

If you are planning a weekend trip the following news may prove to be very useful. Please be informed that the Ruwais Road to&from Exit 142 -> presented in the “Driving to Ruwais” article, has been closed. This action does not seem to be temporary, and i would not adventure on the road if i had urgent travelling to do.

Even though I have actually traveled on this particular road just 4 days before….

Oasis Water Home Delivery at Special Price

In the following article i will mention how you can get Oasis water delivered to your Ruwais Housing Complex home at special ADNOC prices.

I will focus in my introduction on the big 5 Gallon (~19 Liters) Water bottles since i know that most of us, Ruwais residents, have and use water dispensers for 5 Gallon Water bottles. Depending on where you get the water bottles you could be saving or losing money. For example my nearest home delivery shop charges me 9 AED per bottle with an extra 1 dirham (tip) for the delivery boy. It s convenient and cheap when it comes to the cost divided per liter. But, lately, my home delivery shop has been “forgetting” to bring me the 5 Gallon Bottle of water unless i call them twice, so i have decided to try a different supplier and save money in the process.

In case you have missed the announcement in January or February regarding “Supply of bottled water”, i will remind you. There is an agreement between ADNOC and its group of companies with Oasis Pure Water LLC.

It has been a little over 1 year since www.Ruwais.info was registered and developed into a news & ads website, dedicated to Ruwais Housing Complex residents.

In this whole time i have gathered information and, with it, have tried to make interesting articles to improve and share the knowledge about life in Ruwais. Your positive feedback has always been a source of inspiration and encouragement.

According to our statistics, the articles and the ads have been visited over 115.000 times. I think this is quite impressive considering that Ruwais population is not that big (~20k).
