Road Closure Notification
Greetings Ruwais neighbours.
If you are planning a weekend trip the following news may prove to be very useful. Please be informed that the Ruwais Road to&from Exit 142 -> presented in the “Driving to Ruwais” article, has been closed. This action does not seem to be temporary, and i would not adventure on the road if i had urgent travelling to do.
Even though I have actually traveled on this particular road just 4 days before…. i have discovered that this “short” route has been blocked. The rail road works are now intensifying in the area, and only the contractors (and their big trucks) roam around.
Trying to bypass the road block will only lead you to a few iron gates (barriers) before the train bridge. From that point you cannot continue and you have to turn back to the highway. You waste at least 20 minutes trying to see for yourself that the road is closed and returning to the highway.
So, once more :
Please reroute your Ruwais arrival or departure through the Ghayathi roundabout. The below picture is our recommended way.

What about when we r on d way to Ruwais
On our right side shows a big board of Ruwais to take right but the same blue board is covered with gunny bag cloth …
Even there a board displaying road closed !! Is this road open or not ? As its same from last 2 months,,
I didn’t enter that road BT went straight to Saudi rd and then took a U turn for Ruwais which shows a board 32km.
Do advice if u have d update update of d rd m talking about!!!

If you are going to or returning from Abu Dhabi / Dubai (Eastern UAE) you need to take the road through Ghayathi. Do not take exit 142 because it is now fully closed for public access.
If you are going to or returning from Sila (Saudi border – Western UAE) you do not need to modify your route.
