UAE “approved” VoIP apps
! Update !
Sounds good. But you’ll have to fork out a monthly service fee to ‘legally’ use the service.
Both service providers have listed Dh50 and Dh100 as monthly fees: the former is for one user, while the latter is for each member of your family. The fees are automatically renewed per month.

I am a little surprised by the fact that two VoIP apps are now allowed in the UAE.
As you may know whatsapp, viber and skype are blocked or banned in the UAE simply due to “security” reasons.
C’Me and BOTIM are designed similar to the apps mentioned earlier. I will just point out one personal observation for each one :
- With C’Me when you install it you should notice Etisalat being mentioned as the software developer
- With BOTIM you will notice one contact person “App Radar” that cannot be deleted and serves new ads every time you open the chat window with him
Therefore : C’Me is designed by Etisalat, so don’t expect good service or privacy from the App.
And BOTIM serves as an ads platform with messaging and videocalls features.
I advise you to : Use them at your own risk or convenience.
Howevery : I think they will become great alternatives for local usage .
Using a VPN with the global popular voip apps (whatsapp, viber or skype) is not recommended… since VPN usage is illegal in the UAE.
PS> Using BOTIM or C’Me requires an internet connection, mobile DATA subscription charges may apply.
