Car Registration & Insurance in Ruwais
This article will be useful for all the drivers in the Ruwais area. I will mainly talk about the process of renewing the registration & insurance for cars.
The Vehicle Registration & Insurance center is located in the petrol station -> near the Al Ruwais industrial bridge. Ruwais based ADNOC employees will surely know the location of the petrol station that i am referring to. I have included >>> here <<< a picture of the gps coordinates to be perfectly clear.
To find out more about the center please continue to read
I want to start by mentioning that the working hours of the Ruwais Vehicle Registration & Insurance center are from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Always keep in mind that you may need to wait in line to complete the registration renewal process. Better come early and finish everything in one day. You will need to test your car, buy insurance and then register the car ;).
1. The first step is to test your vehicle. For a Mazda 6 (2005) the cost was 120 AED for the check up. If everything is ok, you will receive a certificate with a mention of : PASSED. If the test is Failed, you can retest the specific failures for free only 3 times. After 3 failed inspections you will have to repay the whole sum at the Al Salama office.
2. The second step is to buy insurance. Inside the Vehicle Registration & Insurance center you have 2 insurance companies : ADNIC & Emirates Insurance Co. In this example, Emirates Insurance Co was selected because the gave the best price for 3rd party insurance. ADNOC employees have discount on insurance (you need to present an ADNOC id)
3. The third and final step is to register the car. You will need to present the car test certificate, car insurance and old registration card of the vehicle. It is very important that you have a debit or credit card with you for payment purposes.
In conclusion, if you are lucky you will finish everything in about 30 minutes. In case there is a big queue at the test bay, at the insurance offices and polices counter… you could be there for at least 2 hours.
Total cost of registration for a Mazda 6 (2005) was 535 AED.
PS. If you have traffic fines, you can pay them at this center or online.
a. Cars below 3 years old, are not required to do the vehicle inspection
b. Cars up to 7 years old, can get full comprehensive insurance – if their traffic history is ok.
